I have no idea where the time has gone, but I swear I just posted and was excited about it being November....so I don't even know where to start!
Thanksgiving went well..Alex's family came to Texas and we were completely stumped on what to do with them, except we knew exactly where we wanted to take them for food! Actually, it seems as if the entire few days only consisted of food. The places that topped our list of places we wanted them to try were Rosa's Tortilla Factory (they don't have good Mexican in NY and they like Taco Cabana, so this is obviously WAY better!!), La Hacienda (good Mexican with some Texas flavor), Kenny's Burger Joint (seriously the best burgers ever..and great fried pickles!), and Babe's Chicken Dinner House (which was a big hit!), and Sonny Bryan's for BBQ for their last meal in Texas. We also, of course, had Thanksgiving dinner before going to the Dallas Cowboys game. I think they left here full and happy! Well, that is how I felt anyways. :)
We also got the chance to go to New York and visit them the second weekend in December. We took the kids and had a great time! We mostly relaxed, but we did get to go into the city for one day. The kids really wanted to go to "the big toy store" (FAO Schwarz) where Bryden made his own muppet and Aeson got a toy helicopter. They also really wanted to see the big tree at Rockefellar Center.
We then went to eat at Patsy's, which has great calzones! Aeson fell asleep on our way to dinner and I don't think he woke up until we were on our way back to the house. This is very unlike him for those of you that know my children well....
On the last night of our trip, Alex's mom really wanted Alex to go to a local Italian market and so we went. Alex really enjoyed it and of course we wound up buying entirely too much food to make for dinner, but not before the kids had a chance to eat some gelato.
Is anyone else getting hungry reading this post? Because I definitely am! Maybe we should do a food blog....
After New York, we came back home and I have been busy finishing up our Christmas shopping. The kids had pretty easy Santa lists this year, with the exception of Aeson's red mercedes (which Target has, but it is the tiniest ride on car ever) and Bryden wants a "real boy kitchen that you can actually make food in" (If anyone knows if that exists, please let me know! He asks for that every year!)
We have also been busy trying to get our photography business under way...I will not discuss that too much since I have a separate photography blog for that, but I just have to say that I am super excited about after the Holidays to really try and market ourselves. I really have faith in this and we have had pretty good feedback so far! With that being said, if anyone needs some photos done please consider us!! We will do family photography, newborns, maternity, engagements, pets, food...whatever you need! :)
I can't believe that Christmas is only a few days away! I can't wait! I love having little kids during the holidays. They truly seem to make Christmas "magical" again..similar to the feeling I had when I was little.
Happy Holidays everyone!!

Here goes nothing!
A few of you know this already, but Alex and I have decided to give the photography business a try. It is something he has enjoyed doing for years and I have grown to love it as well. I guess I have always loved photography, I just didn't truly understand it until he came along. We have tossed around the idea of starting a photography business and I kept telling him he should just go for it, but I guess it is a scary thing to start your own business. It was fairly recently when we decided just to do it. Alex will keep his day job, of course, but we will take photos together over the weekends and I will do them alone during the week. We will both work on the editing. I was a little hesitant because it seems like everyone and their dog has a photography business, but we can't let that stop us. Hopefully people will see our talent and this takes off. I have started a photography blog, so I hope you guys will follow it! http://milanophotographytx.blogspot.com/
I also created a facebook page, so please "like" our page! We appreciate all the support we get!

It's November y'all!!
I am SO STINKIN' EXCITED that November has arrived!! For those of you that know me well, you are well aware that this is my absolute favorite time of year! Thanksgiving is less than 3 weeks away and I believe there are only 48 or 49 shopping day left until Christmas!! I'll let you do the math...
I am also excited for Alex's mom, step-dad, and brother to come down to Texas for Thanksgiving! It will be the first time they will have seen our home. It's not too much to brag about, but I think it has come together nicely over the past year or so. The boys are excited to see everyone too! I love that they love Alex's family. :) It makes me smile.
I guess I should not forget to mention that Halloween went well (although I could do without that holiday) and the kids received way too much candy as usual. Bryden dressed as Darth Vader and Aeson went as Obi Wan Kenobi. (I don't think I have ever even watched a Star Wars movie, so please excuse any misspellings)
This year we went trick or treating with the Preston family. We had a lot of fun with our old friends and I am not sure if I have ever mentioned that I am so happy that they moved back to Texas! We missed them!
The other major event that has happened over the past few weeks, is that Bryden's football season has come to an end. It was a bittersweet moment. The Prosper Chargers made it to the playoffs (along with every other team) and made it to the semi-finals where they faced the "Mean Green Eagles". It was predicted to be a real nail biter, but it wasn't. We lost the game pretty good. BUT I was happy that Bryden had more people come and see him play than he has ever had. The usual people were there (me, Alex, his dad and his fiance, my parents), but he was excited to see that his aunt, Alex's dad and grandparents came to see him play his final game of 2011. It was heartbreaking to see the boys after the game was over. They have been one of the best teams in the league, so they did not expect to lose this game. They were hoping to play next week in the "superbowl". Many of them were crying, which was upsetting, but we have been practicing 2 days a week since AUGUST. That is quite a bit of time involved for kindergarteners and first graders! Hence the reason I consider the loss "bittersweet". It was a lot of fun though and Bryden has grown to enjoy playing, so I can't wait until next year!!

Can you believe it has been four years??
Today is Aeson's birthday and he has turned four years old. Part of me can't believe it has been four years, but another part of me feels like his childhood has gone slower than Bryden's. (So far anyway).
Four years ago I didn't realize how my world would change so much. He is my second child, so I knew his birth would be life changing, but you never realize in what ways your precious child is going to change your life. I remember the day he was born as if it were yesterday. Once I looked into his eyes I knew that he was going to be something special. Aeson and I have bonded in a way that I could never have imagined. You have children and you try to think of all the life lessons that you will instill in them and you never think of the lessons that they will be able to teach you. Aeson has taught me patience and how to love unconditionally. He is literally one of the sweetest kids I know and almost always thinks of others before himself. Today, when I asked him where we should go for his birthday dinner he gave it some thought and said "maybe we should let Bryden decide". I responded by saying "oh sweet boy..this is YOUR day" and he had a look on his face as if he couldn't even comprehend that it was ok for him think of just himself for once. He is a giver and a lover. If you are ever having a bad day all you need is his sweet smile and one of his hugs and everything feels right again. Aeson is not afraid to tell you how much he loves you and he shows it as well. He loves kisses and "snuggle time". Aeson is also quite the charmer, which is a blessing and a curse all at the same time. He knows how to work it and can usually get what he wants. He climbs in bed with us every single night and while I know that I should put an end to it, I just can't...all because when I ask him why he does this he looks at me with that sweet sweet smile and says simply "Because I just love you so much". My heart melts every time....
Aeson - you are sweet, loving, considerate, helpful, funny, quirky and just completely adorable. These are amazing qualities to have and I love every minute of watching you grow. There hasn't been a single day in the past four years that I haven't appreciated having you as my son. You have brought me so much happiness and love. Don't ever forget that "you are the sweetest boy in the world" and that mama loves you more than anything. Do not let anyone tell you that it is not ok to be "mommy's boy". I love you more than you know. Happy Birthday Roo!

Domestic Diva? Well, I wish....
I have been spending a lot more time at home lately and it just reminds me of how much I want to be a stay at home mom FULL TIME! I have been really getting into cooking, which should shock anyone that knows me well. I have never been a cook and I tend to burn things, BUT I am determined to be great at it. I love these nights where I cooked a meal and we are able to sit at the table as a family. So if anyone has any great recipes or any interesting food blogs...send 'em my way!! The trouble with this is that I am also finding a lot of super yummy baked goods that I am wanting to make, but my sweet hubby is wanting to be healthy. This is not good timing on his part.
I also have the strong desire to be crafty. Again, this is soooo not me. I am starting to wonder who has taken over my body! I keep finding myself glued to pinterest (can you say addicting?) or browsing etsy and thinking "I could do that!". I have even found myself enjoying craft stores. Of course I have no clue where to start or what to buy, but hey it is a start. I even had my friend give me a little sewing lesson. I made a tote bag and I could actually carry something in it!
I am so envious of those who get to stay at home and are able to use their crafty talents. I am even more envious of those who are able to make a profit out of it. I would love to discover some sort of hidden talent of mine that I could utilize. Until then I should probably work a little more. Sometimes I sit here and look on facebook and see "friends" who have amazing careers and I begin to feel inadequate. But then I take a look around and realize that being a wife and mom to my beautiful boys completes me in a way that nothing else could and it would be amazing to find a way to spend more time with them.

Boys of Fall
We are a few weeks into Bryden's first football season. He is playing flag football in Prosper and his team is the "Chargers". I was so excited for this because I LOVE football. Unfortunately, I am not so sure Bryden feels the same way as I do. At first, Bryden absolutely hated it and wanted to quit. I feel that kids shouldn't just quit something they started, so I told him we have to finish out the season and then decide if he wants to play again next year.
His team is 1-1 so far. They lost their first game by one point. I don't think his coach was too thrilled about that, but I thought it was a great game. It is so fun to watch the boys and fairly amusing watching the coaches who get a LITTLE too into it. I feel like they must be reminded that this is kindergarteners and first graders we are dealing with! After his loss I asked how he felt about it and he said that he wasn't happy or upset about it. I am pretty sure that means he still doesn't care too much about the sport, which is fine with me. After they won their second game, he seemed a little happy about it, but he didn't display too much emotion. I have noticed him improving a bit, but his motivation is not winning. His coach started handing out little awards after their games for the best defensive and offensive players and Bryden has decided that it would be awesome to have one of those. I want him to try his best, so I am all for whatever motivates him. He also decided that if he gets one of those awards, that we must go to dinner at his choice of restaurant. I love how my family always incorporates food into every situation. :)
Flag football will last a couple more months, so it will be interesting to see him grow and improve. I am also curious to see his final thoughts about football and if he will want to play another season. I do not see a football star in our future, but it is still a lot of fun to watch. I just hope the coaches loosen up a bit and remember that it is all about FUN at this age and learning about sportsmanship.

Life As It Should Be!
So as most of you know, it is official!! We are now Mr. and Mrs. Milano. The wedding took place in NY at Harvest on Hudson on August 5th 2011 with our close family and a few of our close friends. It was absolutely perfect and I can not wait until we receive our professional photos. We had the best photographer. He was so fun to work with and I am confident the pictures will be fabulous. Our ceremony was outside overlooking the Hudson River and we had a small lunch inside with great food and a delicious cake! We were able to spend some time in New York, which allowed Bryden and Aeson to get to know Alex's NY family and we introduced them to NYC. The kids loved it and were sad to leave. They were really sad they had to leave Alex's younger brother, Jake, who they thought was one of the coolest guys ever. Aeson has even mentioned how he would like to live there, although it is primarily because of the cooler weather! My poor child hates the heat and I am pretty sure he was born in the wrong state. Once we left New York, we had to head back home to Dallas to drop the boys off and catch a flight to Hawaii the following day. We actually were delayed leaving NY and missed our connecting flight in Atlanta, so we had to spend the night. I was a nervous wreck that we wouldn't make it to Dallas and make it to our honeymoon! My parents had to pack a few things and literally meet us at the airport in Dallas to grab the kids and take some of our stuff home, but we made it!
Hawaii was so incredible and absolutely beautiful. We both had a great time and really enjoyed Maui. We also discovered once we arrived that we had a guest that had snuck in the our suitcase. "Beary" is Bryden's bear that he has had since he was a baby, so we made sure to bring him along and snap some photos for Bryden to see! We got a few strange looks along the way, but I think "Beary" enjoyed his trip. :)
We relaxed a lot, but we made sure to experience the apparent "must do" activities on the island, which included the Road to Hana and the Haleakala Sunrise. The road to Hana takes up an entire day and it is a two lane, windy road that leads to the town of Hana. You see many waterfalls, hiking trails, and other amazing scenic views. My favorite stop was at a park where we had lunch and there were black sandy beaches, a blow hole, and a few freshwater pools that you could jump into. We didn't swim in them because it was raining pretty much the entire day, which made it too cold for me!
The sunrise was actually something that I was NOT looking forward to. You have to leave the hotel at 2:30 in the morning and drive approximately 2 1/2 hours to the top of the mountain, where it is very cold. Alex was so excited about this trip and spent a lot of his time beforehand researching how to take the best photos. Once we made it to the top, he set up the camera while I impatiently sat in the car. Once the shuttle buses started arriving, I figured I should get out and go stand in our spot, so I would have a good view. Although I was completely exhausted and grumpy, I was so happy that Alex dragged me along because it was the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen!
The rest of our time on Maui consisted of laying by the pool, eating, playing in the ocean, and more eating. I will have to say that my only regret (if any) is that we did not choose to visit any other islands (which was my decision). So many people kept telling us about their experiences on different islands, that I became disappointed that we decided against it. I am sure we will go back at some point in time. I definitely want to bring the boys and we can plan our trip more wisely.
Even though it was a fabulous honeymoon, I was excited to head back home to live as husband and wife and jump back into our crazy beautiful life with the kids. We didn't have much time to recuperate from the vacation once we arrived home, because Alex started a new job and Bryden started first grade and football, which I will have to save for a separate blog...

This one's for Alex.....
I have been meaning to log on and update, but unfortunately have just been too busy! Today is August 3rd, which means we have 2 days until our wedding! I can`t believe it is already almost here. I am not feeling nervous (like my fiance), but feel very relaxed and excited. I am probably relaxed due to the fact that Alex's mom has done most of the planning - which I am extremely grateful for, by the way! I am mostly relaxed because I know this is exactly where I am supposed to be. You see, this isn't my first rodeo...I have done this before! The difference is that this time I know that I am marrying my soul mate. It has been quite the journey to make it to this point in my life, but I am thankful that we have gotten here. One of the songs that I picked to play during our wedding video montage is "Blessed the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts. I always felt that this song summed up our relationship perfectly. I feel that God has truly blessed the broken road that led me straight to Alex. Bryden, Aeson and I love him so much and we can't wait to officially become a family. Two more days!!

Summer begins!
So much has been going on in our busy lives and I haven't had much time to get on here to tell about any of it. Last week was Bryden's last week of kindergarten and although he was ecstatic about the event, I couldn't help feel a little teary. I keep wondering where the year went and feel like I had to of missed something because it flew by so quickly. I dropped him off for his last day of school and as he ran to the school doors I had an overwhelming feeling of sadness wash over me. We had looked forward to this year so much and I couldn't believe it was already time to see it end. We will miss his teacher, Mrs. Lacey, who was the best kindergarten teacher we could have asked for. I think saying goodbye to his teacher was harder for Bryden than he thought. Most kids are able to see their past teachers in the hallways when they enter the next grade level, but for Bryden it will be different. When he left school that day it was not only his last day as a kindergartener, it was also the last time he would be in a Celina school. It is a little bittersweet for me. I grew up there and attended Celina ISD from kindergarten-12th grade. Ever since I was pregnant I envisioned having my own "Bobcats" in the house and wearing orange every Friday. We have lived in Prosper for almost a year now and I had started out the year thinking that we would let the kids attend Celina schools, but as the year progressed I had decided that it was the wrong decision and that we were going to embrace Prosper fully and that Bryden would enter first grade as a Prosper Eagle. As some of my fellow Bobcats know, this was tough to swallow realizing that my Friday nights will soon involve a sea of green and white, but I think I will always have orange in my blood! (by the way Alex, I can see you reading this and wanting to gag, but that's how it is so deal with it!!). Bryden seems a little bummed with the fact that he will not go to Celina schools, but he also seems ready to meet new friends and is excited that he can ride the bus (which is NOT happening anytime soon)!

Busy Bryden
Well the title says it all. Bryden has become so busy lately that I realized I haven't even posted anything about his sports! This year, Bryden has played basketball and is now playing soccer and tball. Basketball has been over for a couple of weeks now, but let me just say it was so much fun. It is by far the best sport he has played yet! It was so cute to see these kids dribbling (or lack thereof) the basketball down the court and making baskets. I was actually amazed at how well some of these kids played. Bryden wasn't too bad himself! I wasn't sure how he was going to do at basketball, but so far it seems like one of his best sports. He had a great time and I was sad to see the season end. Soccer season recently started and he has one practice a week with their game being held on Saturdays. The kids seem to have a blast playing it, but this has to be my least favorite sport (sorry Bryden). Last year he played and didn't seem to enjoy it all that much. He actually didn't plan on participating this year, but decided to give it another try. I have to give him credit for having such a good attitude, even though I honestly didn't care either way. I do have to say that he is enjoying it more this year, so I guess I should prepare myself to be a soccer mom for at least a couple more years! As if soccer didn't take up enough time, now we have tball to look forward to! Practices started last week and the games will start in April. Most people seem to think of this game as boring, but I actually enjoy it! Bryden is also begging me to do karate, but I just don't think we have the time. Maybe over the summer....
I will also try to post more pics of Bryden's games. I haven't had a chance to upload pictures to the computer, but will try to do it soon!

All about Roo!
You may be wondering what is "roo"? "Roo" is our little nickname for Aeson! I'm not sure where it started from, although I know I think it came from "Ace-a-roni" then it became "roni" and now it is just "roo". It doesn't make much sense, but it fits him. :)
Anyways, I kind of wanted to blog only about Aeson today because he is at such a special age where everything that comes out of his mouth is just so darn cute! (Ok..not EVERYTHING, but mostly). I love how one night I told him he was the sweetest boy ever and he responded by saying I was the bested mama ever. It made my heart melt just a little bit. I also love that he can not make any decisions with out saying "meenie miny meenie moe, catch a tiger with some toes". I love how Aeson is so sweet natured. He is such a cuddler and loves to rub on your back when you snuggle up with him. He is quick to tell you how much he loves you.
I also have to copy this conversation from one of Alex's facebook status updates because it is just too funny to pass up:
Alex: Aeson stop picking your nose!
Aeson" But I got somethin' in it.
Alex: Ok...
Aeson: Awex, I got it!! Here you go!
Alex (who was driving): I don't want that. Wipe it on your pants or something.
Aeson: Thats gwoss! My pants will get dirty. I'll just put it back in my nose.
LOL. He makes me smile.
I have also been enjoying my one day of the week that I keep Aeson at home when I am off work while Bryden is at school. I believe it is so important to spend some quality time with him. I had a couple of years of just Bryden before Aeson was born and those moments were so special to me. I am thankful that I am able to spend quality time with Ace before he gets older. I love that kid!

Finally settled on our wedding location!
I have so much to blog about, but don't have the time to do a long blog post. So this one will be an update on the wedding plans and hopefully I will do another one in a few days rather than waiting a month!
In January we went to NY after our cruise to look for a wedding venue. After getting completely overwhelmed I talked Alex into doing a destination wedding. After deciding on the Virgin Islands I began to question whether that was the right move. We then decided it was important for us to do a small and inexpensive wedding so we can go on an amazing honeymoon! We tossed around the idea of having the wedding in TX but neither one of us had the desire to do it in DFW, so we began looking at the hill country. I didn't feel like this was "it". I felt like Alex truly wanted to do in in NY, so we started looking into that again. We made the decision to have it in NY, but we opted not to have it at any of the venues we looked at (which were all amazing). We settled on Harvest on Hudson, a restaurant on the Hudson River. It will be a very small wedding. I actually haven't even seen the place so I am anxious to return to NY to check it out! I am confident it will be amazing. I am so thrilled we decided on a venue. Oh and I suppose it would be important to let you know the date! It will be August 5th!
I am not really into wedding planning, which is one reason why I got so overwhelmed. But, something has come over me and I am SO EXCITED about it and decided to do a "shabby chic" theme. I have found so many sites with inspirations and I just can't wait to get everything in motion. I feel like I should do another blog just for wedding planning since this one is supposed to be geared towards my kids, so we will see! I can barely keep up with this one, so I'm not so sure another blog is such a great idea. :)
This past weekend we did our engagement pictures and I am so anxious to see them! We had a fabulous photographer who I would recommend to anyone and we had a blast taking them. We went to the Las Colinas canals and also downtown Grapevine. The canals were great for romantic pictures and Grapevine was super cheesy, but a lot of fun. Who knew I would have so much fun having my picture taken? I hope they turn out ok, but I am confident they will be awesome.
We have decided to go to Italy for our honeymoon (hence the reason for a SMALL wedding). I was on the fence about whether or not we should register for gifts since this is my second wedding, so I have heard of people having a "honeyfund". I looked into this and thought it was fantastic! So rather than receiving household items our family and friends can help gift us the gift of amazing memories. http://www.honeyfund.com/wedding/alexandkimberly
I couldn't get completely away from doing a tradition registry because Alex really wanted one and some people prefer to give a physical gift so we do have one other registry.
Ok, this was supposed to be a short post, but I had so many things I had to update everyone on! I promise I will blog again soon because we have lots of things going on!

Lots of family, seasickness, and weird rashes
Well we made it! We survived our cruise! January 8th we set sail to Mexico with about 25 members of the McIlroy clan. There were quite a few ups and downs, but I know the kids had a great time. We started our vacation by deciding to leave Friday evening to go down to Galveston. Of course, we had to sit in rush hour traffic in Dallas and listen to "are we there yet" every 30 minutes and had to stop for a few bathroom breaks (thanks to me). It was a typical road trip. We arrived in Galveston at stayed at the Galvez, which I learned is haunted so I slept so wonderfully...
The next morning we boarded the ship and began our 5 day adventure. Of course we started off by eating some food. What else would you do on a cruise? We then found our room, unpacked our bags, and got ready for dinner. The next day at sea was fairly uneventful and relaxing. That evening was "formal" night for dinner (which for Carnival isn't that formal). Afterwards we tried our luck at the casino and I vowed not to go back until the last night. The 3rd day was spent in Progreso, Mexico. This was the same cruise we took last year so I knew not to expect too much from this stop. We got off and went to the beach for a bit, but the dead fish smell was a little nauseating so we made our way back to the ship.

I was so glad we went back to the ship because we had a great time! We went to the top deck and let the kids play in the water slide area since the weather was nice. All the kids had so much fun sliding down the slides. Bryden wouldn't go down the "big" slide, but he finally warmed up to it the next day. The 4th day we went to Cozumel. I think pretty much everyone went to the same beach, which was kind of nice. Surprisingly, there wasn't any family drama on this trip (well that I know of). The beach was awesome. The kids, of course, had a great time playing in the ocean and we had a good time soaking in the sun and indulging in a few Mexican cervezas. My sister and Alex road on some jet skis. The beach we went to also had a pool that we lounged around before we left. I think Aeson would have preferred to be at the pool the entire time. He was NOT a fan of the sand this year. Although I don't blame him I hope it is a phase. That could really put a crimp in the beach wedding idea. Before we boarded the ship my sister had to go to this one bar because it was a "tradition" to get a margarita from there. She warned everyone that they were strong but soon a couple of family members began acting a little loopy. I am glad I opted to not partake in the margarita drinking.... We then headed back to the ship.
Dinner that night was a little slow. I think we were all exhausted. We wound up going to bed super early that night. The 5th day on the cruise was TERRIBLE. It was also my birthday. I woke up in the middle of night to strange noises and the boat rocking like crazy. I tried to sleep, but I was way to paranoid. The morning finally came and the rocking never ceased. I was so sick. I have never been seasick until that day and it was awful. I threw up most of the morning and even little Aeson threw up (all over me). Alex felt a little under the weather as well. Bryden was the only one that didn't mind it and had a great time at Camp Carnival. I never left the room, but Alex told me there was "vomit bags" taped in the elevators because of the rocking. Apparently a lot of people were "green" that day. I felt a little better that evening and attempted dinner, but left before my birthday dessert because my kids were acting crazy. I tried to go to the casino with Alex and my sister for a bit, but quickly lost and gave up. My sister and Alex were determined to "not be defeated" by the casino, but I'm pretty sure they were. I went to watch the karaoke singers for a bit with a large chunk of the family and would have had a great time if it weren't for being sick all day. Plus I had a cold coming on. The next day the boat arrived at back at Galveston. I began to notice a very strange rash on one of my legs. Apparently I got it in Mexico, but I am still unsure what it is. Limes and sun can cause a strange skin reaction FYI. So to sum it all up we had a fairly good time with my large family but it was quickly put to a halt with the seasickness and strange rash.
Once we got to Galveston we drove to Houston and hopped on a plane to New York to scout out wedding venues. I think I will save that for a different post since I am still trying to recover from the trip.
