Finally settled on our wedding location!

I have so much to blog about, but don't have the time to do a long blog post.  So this one will be an update on the wedding plans and hopefully I will do another one in a few days rather than waiting a month!

In January we went to NY after our cruise to look for a wedding venue.  After getting completely overwhelmed I talked Alex into doing a destination wedding.  After deciding on the Virgin Islands I began to question whether that was the right move.  We then decided it was important for us to do a small and inexpensive wedding so we can go on an amazing honeymoon!  We tossed around the idea of having the wedding in TX but neither one of us had the desire to do it in DFW, so we began looking at the hill country.  I didn't feel like this was "it".  I felt like Alex truly wanted to do in in NY, so we started looking into that again.   We made the decision to have it in NY, but we opted not to have it at any of the venues we looked at (which were all amazing).  We settled on Harvest on Hudson, a restaurant on the Hudson River.  It will be a very small wedding.  I actually haven't even seen the place so I am anxious to return to NY to check it out!  I am confident it will be amazing.  I am so thrilled we decided on a venue.  Oh and I suppose it would be important to let you know the date!  It will be August 5th!

I am not really into wedding planning, which is one reason why I got so overwhelmed.  But, something has come over me and I am SO EXCITED about it and decided to do a "shabby chic" theme.  I have found so many sites with inspirations and I just can't wait to get everything in motion.  I feel like I should do another blog just for wedding planning since this one is supposed to be geared towards my kids, so we will see!  I can barely keep up with this one, so I'm not so sure another blog is such a great idea.  :)

This past weekend we did our engagement pictures and I am so anxious to see them!  We had a fabulous photographer who I would recommend to anyone and we had a blast taking them.  We went to the Las Colinas canals and also downtown Grapevine.  The canals were great for romantic pictures and Grapevine was super cheesy, but a lot of fun.  Who knew I would have so much fun having my picture taken?  I hope they turn out ok, but I am confident they will be awesome.

We have decided to go to Italy for our honeymoon (hence the reason for a SMALL wedding).  I was on the fence about whether or not we should register for gifts since this is my second wedding, so I have heard of people having a "honeyfund".  I looked into this and thought it was fantastic!  So rather than receiving household items our family and friends can help gift us the gift of amazing memories.  http://www.honeyfund.com/wedding/alexandkimberly

I couldn't get completely away from doing a tradition registry because Alex really wanted one and some people prefer to give a physical gift so we do have one other registry.

Ok, this was supposed to be a short post, but I had so many things I had to update everyone on!  I promise I will blog again soon because we have lots of things going on!
